The Women Educators in Internet and Technology (WEITech) initiative has officially inducted its third cohort of participants, marking an exciting milestone in its mission to empower female educators with digital skills and innovation-driven mindsets. This latest cohort completes the trio of groups selected under the program’s first year of implementation, each bringing fresh energy to the WEITech learning community.
WEITech is an initiative designed to bridge the digital divide and equip female educators with the tools, confidence, and skills needed to drive transformation in their schools and boost their employability and career growth. With Cohort 3 now onboarded, all three groups are actively participating and undergoing intensive learning experiences, one-on-one mentorship, industry engagement sessions, and collaborative ed-tech challenges that are shaping them into digital champions.

Participants in the third cohort joined the program with various functional digital tools such as phones, tablets, and laptops, revealing their readiness and potential to design and deliver ed-tech-based solutions that respond to various educational challenges. Their involvement depicts a growing commitment among women in education to harness the power of technology for social change.

As part of their onboarding process, Cohort 3 members took part in a variety of engaging and hands-on activities aimed at strengthening their cognitive abilities, teamwork, leadership, creativity, and team bonding.

The induction of the third cohort is not only a continuation of WEITech’s program but also a clear sign of digital transformation. With all three cohorts now in session, the program is gaining momentum and building a powerful network of female educators who are not only enhancing their own digital competencies but are also positioned to inspire others, share knowledge, and drive systemic change from within the education sector.

By bridging the digital divide, WEITech is helping to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals, advancing quality education, gender equality, decent work, innovation, and reduced inequality, and ensuring female educators are empowered as agents of change in their schools and various communities.
This initiative is building confident, tech-savvy women educators who are leading change in education through technology. With a strong foundation now laid, WEITech is poised to deepen its impact and expand its reach in the years ahead.

WEITech is a DreamOval Foundation initiative with funding from the Internet Society Foundation.
