DreamOval Foundation partnered with AngloGold Ashanti and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to deliver a transformative 5-day STEM bootcamp for selected basic school STEM clubs in Obuasi. Held from 13th to 17th April, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to equipping young learners with practical, future-ready skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The bootcamp was designed to provide students with hands-on and experiential learning opportunities in coding and programming, complementing classroom learning and strengthening foundational STEM skills.

DreamOval Foundation led the facilitation of the programme, delivering structured training sessions focused on both technical and soft skills development. These included presentation skills, career planning, communication and marketing, teamwork, and interactive ice-breaking activities aimed at building confidence, collaboration, and self-expression among learners.

A key feature of the bootcamp was the practical STEM engagement sessions, led by Shulem Lake, where students worked on building obstacle-avoidance and dancing robots. These activities enabled participants to apply coding concepts, reinforcing learning through creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving.

Beyond technical exposure, the programme created a dynamic learning environment that encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and innovation while increasing students’ interest in pursuing STEM-related courses at the senior high level.

Speaking to one of the students, Abroquah Gyan Nyametie of St. Cyril’s Anglican JHS, he said that

“The bootcamp has been exciting and life-changing. I have learnt how to build obstacle-avoidance and dancing robots, explore other innovations, and work in a team. This bootcamp will help me achieve my aim in the future because I want to become an engineer. It has also improved my knowledge in STEM.”

As part of the initiative, the Community Relations Manager at AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei noted:

“AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi’s Socio-Economic Development Plan is built on partnership, using collaboration to build skills and advance society. Through our work with DreamOval Foundation, we are equipping basic school learners with practical STEM skills to shape their future early. We believe our partnership with DreamOval Foundation will continue to shape the future of students in Obuasi and beyond. The future is tech, and we are committed to starting now and building it together.”

At DreamOval Foundation, we remain committed to designing and implementing impactful STEM programmes that empower young learners with the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through strategic partnerships like this, we continue to expand access to practical STEM education and inspire the next generation of innovators across Ghana.
