In August, DreamOval Foundation facilitated the first-ever Ghana Alliance Learning Circle, bringing together member organisations committed to advancing youth participation, youth agency, and advocacy in Ghana. As a founding member of the Ghana Alliance, DreamOval Foundation convened the session as part of the Alliance’s broader effort to strengthen collaboration and collective impact among civil society organisations working with and for young people.
The Ghana Alliance is a coalition of 12 organisations working across diverse thematic areas but united by a shared belief that young people must be meaningfully involved in shaping decisions that affect their lives. Recognising that Alliance members operate at different organisational stages and across varied contexts, the Learning Circle model was introduced as a peer-learning platform for experience sharing, reflection, and capacity strengthening.
A Focus on Meaningful and Values-Driven Partnerships
The inaugural Learning Circle focused on partnerships, a critical enabler of sustainable social impact. The session led by Afua Oforiwaa Asiamah-Adjei, Executive Director of DreamOval Foundation created a safe and reflective space for members to discuss what meaningful collaboration looks like in practice, drawing from their real-world experiences with funders, institutions, and community stakeholders.
Participants engaged in open conversations about partnership dynamics, challenges, and opportunities, exploring how organisations can move beyond transactional relationships toward partnerships grounded in shared values and mutual respect.
“This session reminded us that partnerships are not just about funding or visibility but about alignment, trust, and shared purpose,” one participant shared.
Another participant reflected on the importance of honesty and communication in sustaining collaboration:
“Being able to openly discuss what has worked and what hasn’t helped us rethink how we approach partnerships and how we show up for one another.”

Key Insights from the Learning Circle
Discussions during the session highlighted several recurring themes essential to building strong and lasting partnerships. These included the need for clear role definition, transparency in decision-making, consistent communication, and mutual accountability. Participants also reflected on power dynamics within partnerships and the importance of centring shared goals—particularly when working to amplify youth voices.
“When partnerships are built on shared values and clear expectations, the impact goes far beyond individual organisations,” Afua Oforiwaa Asiamah-Adjei noted.
By facilitating these conversations, the Learning Circle encouraged organisations to critically reflect on their partnership practices and identify practical ways to strengthen collaboration across the Alliance.
Strengthening Collective Impact for Youth in Ghana
By hosting the first Ghana Alliance Learning Circle, DreamOval Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration as a key driver of sustainable youth development. The session deepened relationships among Alliance members but also laid a strong foundation for future Learning Circles focused on continuous learning, shared accountability, and collective action.
As the Ghana Alliance continues to grow, these Learning Circles will serve as an important platform for strengthening organisational capacity and ensuring that youth participation remains central to development efforts across Ghana. DreamOval Foundation is proud to contribute to this collective journey, working alongside partners to create inclusive, responsive, and youth-centred systems that enable young people to thrive.
