One hundred female educators have graduated from the 2026 Women Educators in Internet and Technology (WEITech) program, earning certification as digital educators equipped with the skills to transform teaching and learning through technology.

The convocation ceremony, held at the ISSER Conference Hall in Legon on June 17, 2026, marked the successful completion of months of intensive training, collaboration, and practical learning. The graduates comprised 49 participants from Cohort One, 15 from Cohort Two, and 36 from Cohort Three.

Designed to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and modern digital learning approaches, the WEITech programme equips female educators with the knowledge and tools needed to integrate technology into education, promote inclusive learning, and enhance their professional opportunities.

Addressing graduates and guests at the ceremony, Executive Director of DreamOval Foundation, Afua Asiamah-Adjei highlighted the vision behind the programme.

She explained that WEITech was designed to support licensed female teachers awaiting employment with the Ghana Education Service (GES) by providing them with in-demand digital skills, practical experience, and opportunities that enhance women’s participation in the education and technology sectors.

According to her, the women who entered the programme as educators are leaving as confident digital professionals prepared to make meaningful contributions in their classrooms and communities.

Each of the graduates today brought something irreplaceable to this programme, and each of them is leaving with something they will carry for the rest of their lives: the knowledge that the digital world is a space that belongs to them,” she said.

In a message to the graduates, the Internet Society Foundation, funders of the program, commended the participants for their dedication and resilience throughout the learning journey.

β€œTo the women who have completed this programme, this moment belongs to you. What you have accomplished is significant. In a world where access to digital tools and technology has too often been treated as a privilege rather than a right, you chose to learn, grow, and claim your place in the digital economy. That takes courage, and today we celebrate that courage,” the Foundation stated.

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Deborah Danquah of Cohort Three as the 2026 WEITech Valedictorian. Deborah distinguished herself through her consistency, commitment, and excellence throughout the program.

As part of her capstone project, she developed LucidScript, an AI-powered essay practice platform that provides students with instant curriculum-aligned feedback, helping learners improve their writing skills through technology.

Expressing her appreciation, Deborah thanked DreamOval Foundation, the Internet Society Foundation, and her fellow cohort members for their support throughout the programme.

I want to say a big thank you to DreamOval Foundation and the Internet Society Foundation for this opportunity. I did not expect this at all. I also want to thank my cohort for all the effort we put into our group work. This achievement belongs to all of us, she said.

The graduation ceremony also featured an exhibition of 12 innovative capstone projects developed by participants. The projects addressed a range of educational challenges and opportunities through technology-driven solutions.

Among the ideas showcased were an interactive educational platform designed to help teachers build practical EdTech skills, an AI-powered essay feedback system, a digital marketplace that enables teachers to share and monetize teaching resources, an initiative to improve mathematics learning materials using artificial intelligence, and a beginner teacher training module that combines Montessori-inspired play-based learning approaches with early mathematics instruction.

To support the continued growth of these innovations, all exhibiting teams received seed funding to further develop and scale their projects.

The graduation of the 100 educators reflects the impact of the WEITech program in equipping women with digital and entrepreneurial skills, strengthening technology integration in education, and empowering female educators to drive innovation and transform learning experiences across Ghana and beyond.
